Issue-based

Our issue-based work covers many fields: immigration, learning disability, climate change, cybercrime and more.  We always start by asking those affected for their views.

We were asked by Iranian filmmaker Tina Gharavi to create six responses to her award winning film I Am Nasrine.

For one, HFP interviewed young refugees and asylum seekers at risk of deportation, and their local friends in Newcastle. We heard their about stories, worries, beliefs and mutual support.

Access to the right healthcare and other provision for people with learning disabilities is often problematic.  NHS Cumbria Clinical Commissioning Group asked us to make this animation to improve take-up of Personal Health Budgets for young people, for use across several NHS Trusts.

A lot of dementia care is inadequate.  In this film, Leo Nolan who has dementia recounts a funny, slightly bitter tale of others' expectations of him. We worked with Lancaster-based artist Alison Clough as part of her Cognitive Shift dementia project.

Working with Mencap, and the Police and Crime Commissioner for Cumbria we have made several issue-based films: Cybersecurity, Sexual exploitation of people with learning disabilities, County lines/Cuckooing.

This one is about cybersecurity.  Most of the time the camera crew comprised of adults with learning disabilities.

Skydancer  was made for the RSPB for a national campaign.  Many people in rural communities were wary of speaking out against the persecution of hen harriers in England, where this major species is in danger of dying out completely.  We spoke to activists, gamekeepers and others across the country aiming to find common ground.
